There is an entire realm of consciousness that exists between realities, and it is ripe for exploration. Uncovering what exists there is an intensive and unpredictable process, but it is the sole purpose of the Hypnopompia series: to bring those feelings, memories, and dreams to life.
Hypnopompia is defined as the state between sleep and waking, where the dream world spills into our reality, just enough that it has been known to cause hallucinations – such as night terrors – or waking dreams. Hypnopompic states don’t commonly occur in everyone. It is a unique experience, that for this artist has led to a personal journey of pulling apart the visions that have come to her over the years. Developing an ever more intimate theme to her work, Danielle Branchaud presents a new series that dives into the deepest recesses of the human experience, invoking emotions and imagery that are bound to provoke a myriad of sensations. While the overall theme involves the experience of dreaming, there are a variety of symbols and subjects that lead directly to into her own memories – and her perception of life, love, pain and connection.
